Available
Exploration of Training:
Educational and/or Career Change Opportunities
for customers who are eligible to receive intensive job search
assistance, counseling, and possibly training funds to move
into high demand occupations through programs such as the
Work Force Investment Act, Trade Adjustment Act, and similar
programs. After attending a Career Center Seminar or Orientation,
interested customers should attend a Training Opportunities
or Trade Orientation, or speak with a walk-in career counselor
to learn more about eligibility requirements.
Career Assistance:
Help identifying job opportunities, plus guidance on job
search planning in areas such as resume development, interviewing
and networking. Career Counselors generally are available
on a walk-in basis. Please let the Receptionist know if you
want to talk with a counselor.
Military Veteran Information and Support:
To learn more about support provided to veterans, please make an appointment with CareerPoint’s Veterans’ Services Representative, Steve Dowd. Individual career counseling is available to help organize your job search, develop job leads, and to learn about training grants and other benefit programs. Please bring your DD-214 with you when you first meet with the Veterans' Representative. Veterans' Services are closely coordinated with all other Career Center programs and services.
Youth Opportunities for ages 14-21:
Please make an appointment to meet with a youth counselor
to receive guidance on job search planning, job opportunities,
GED or MCAS preparation, support and referrals. Information
also is available on Work Readiness Certificate Programs,
as well as referrals to other youth organization, such as
the Westover Job Corp.
Services for People Living with Disabilities:
A disability specialist, Michelle Miller, and experienced
walk-in counselors are available to help with general job
counseling and support. A Bilingual SSI Benefit Specialist
and an MRC counselor may be seen by appointment. Adaptive
equipment is available upon request.
Unemployment Insurance questions & claims assistance:
An Unemployment Claims Specialist is available on a walk-in
basis. Please place your name on the waiting list at the reception
desk.
Bilingual ESOL, GED, and Adult Basic Education Referrals:
Please make an appointment with Frances Bernier, the JUNTOS
Referral Specialist, to learn more about available day or
evening classes and programs.
Senior Services:
Please see a walk-in counselor to learn more about identifying
job opportunities for seniors and developing strategies for
a successful job search.
Post Employment Services:
Support services and employment related clothing for eligible
DTA referred participants. Please see the Post Employment
Specialist, Ileana Hernandez, to learn about how to receive
stipends for uniforms, work boots, shoes, tools or special
licensing.
Re-entry Services:
Ex-offenders receive assistance identifying job opportunities,
as well as guidance on job search planning and preparation.
Re-entry counselors provide individual guidance, job development,
and referrals to supportive community programs, as well as
workshops designed to help customers with a criminal record
learn how to identify & overcome employment barriers.
