WHALLEY COMPUTER ASSOCIATES AWARDS $20,000 IN EQUIPMENT AT TECHNOLOGY FAIR
CareerPoint wins First Place
(Milford & Southwick, MA) -- Whalley Computer Associates (WCA), one of the leading independent computer hardware and software resellers and system integrators in the nation, has announced the winner of the Technology Makeover Contest. CareerPoint of Holyoke, MA was selected to receive $20,000 worth of computer equipment and services based upon their presentation of need.
“It is with great pleasure that Whalley Computer Associates extends the first place award to CareerPoint”, said Paul Whalley during Thursday, December 6ths award presentation, “We had hundreds of entries that all seemed deserving. It was not an easy decision for our judges”.
In order to enter the $20,000 Technology Makeover, businesses between five and five hundred employees in New England were asked to describe in one hundred words or less why they deserved the Technology Makeover. Entrants completed their essays by December first, and were individually contacted by Whalley Computer to learn more about their specific situation.
Of an overwhelming number of applicants, WCA interviewed one hundred and fifty of the most deserving. Of these, the interviewers presented their recommendations to a panel of judges. A tentative top twenty was selected and the top ten were given the opportunity to make a presentation to the panel on the day of the Technology Fair. Each company described why they most deserved the Grand Prize $20,000.00 Technology Makeover. All the companies had compelling reasons making the decision very difficult. The winner was chosen just minutes prior to the Grand Prize announcement deadline of 2PM.
Whalley Computer Associates believes that their Technology Makeover contest received the most entrants of any similar national contest to date. “We were told by HP that the highest number of entrants to date by any Technology Makeover was only about fifty entrants. We were elated and surprised by our terrific response”, said Paul Whalley.
CareerPoint is an award winning, private not-for-profit Career Center, chartered by the Hampden County Regional Employment Board. Last year, they served over 11,000 job seekers and 650 businesses providing a range of job search and employment related resources, services, and programs. Collaborating with state agencies, local government agencies, businesses, and community organizations, CareerPoint serves as a key link between public and private workforce development programming.
The new computer equipment from WCA will help CareerPoint increase their capacity, particularly in the areas of youth services and programs focused on customers living with disabilities. As CareerPoint IT Manager Wilfred Bonilla put it, “We needed this makeover! CareerPoint customers will now be able to use the latest software and equipment to prepare them for employment.”
CareerPoint is proud to accept this award, and we look forward to continuing to support you, our customer, in every aspect of your job search.
