In this workshop you will use the Self-Directed Search assessment
tool in order to find out which occupations
suit you best. Like Values & Career Choices, this
is an excellent workshop for career-changers. |

PREPARATION PART 1 (3 hrs)
(Prerequisites: None) Identify your skills and learn
how to write strong statements about your skills and
achievements. Learn how to express your achievements persuasively.
This workshop will help you build confidence, prepare you
to develop a strong résumé, and be more convincing
in job interviews. |
WINNING RÉSUMÉS: RÉSUMÉ PREPARATION
PART 2 (3 hrs) (Prerequisites:
Résumé
Building Part 1) You will learn the
basic principles of good résumé writing,
why résumés are so important, what format
and type will work best for you and what you should
consider when posting your résumé online.

| TYPING YOUR RÉSUMÉ IN
WORD
(2 1/2 hrs) (Prerequisite: Intro to Word
or compatible experience; also, customers must bring a floppy
disk or flash drive on which to save the completed
résumé) This workshop is taught on our computers,
and will help you get your résumé
typed and into a format that you can
present to a potential employer.

RÉSUMÉ DOCTOR
(2 hrs) (Prerequisites: A completed
and typed résumé) The Résumé Doctor is an
experienced résumé writer who will spend ten to twenty
minutes critiquing your completed résumé draft and will make
recommendations for improvement. |

LETTERS
(3 hrs) A cover letter is as important
a tool in your job search as a
résumé. This workshop will teach you what you
need to know to create a cover
letter that can be customized for
each job opportunity. |
NETWORKING TO
GET YOUR NEXT JOB (2 hrs) (Prerequisites:
Job objective or choice of field) This workshop
teaches you how to access jobs in the hidden job
market by expanding personal and professional contacts
through referrals. Basic rules of networking, tips
on self-promotion and telephone skills are the main
topics covered. |

BOSS (3 hrs) (Prerequisites: A job
objective or chosen field) This workshop addresses
the basics of successful job interviewing and provides
you the chance to practice your interviewing
skills. You will learn successful strategies
for addressing difficult and frequently
asked questions, interview preparation and follow-up. |
MATURE WORKERS
WORKSHOP
(3 hrs) (Prerequisites: None) This workshop focuses
on the strengths brought to the workplace
by experienced workers. We'll discuss experiences and develop proactive
strategies for effectively handling stereotypes and minimizing weaknesses - whether
real or perceived.

JOBCENTRAL.COM (1 hr)
(Prerequisites: Intro to Windows suggested) This
workshop teaches you to use the JobCentral.com web
site, which gives you access
to all of the jobs that have been posted
by CareerPoint, FutureWorks, and the Northampton and Greenfield Career
Centers, as well as jobs listed by employers nationwide.

USING E-MAIL IN YOUR JOB
SEARCH (2 hrs) (Prerequisite:
Finding Jobs on JobCentral.com) Learn how to
register for and use a free e-mail account. Become
familiar with sending and receiving e-mail. This
class emphasizes learning the
correct formats for e-mailing résumés including copying and
pasting, or attaching a résumé to e-mail, and
when each is appropriate. You will also learn
how to save a word-processed résumé as a
text file. |
